TEMPLE TAG WITH WHIP ANTENNA
A marine mammal temple tag transmitter is attached through a hole punched into the rear flipper. This attachment method is most often used on sea otters and seals. When a sea otter is floating on its back, the temple tag transmitter's antenna is vertical out of the water. Unlike the back-mount, the temple tag will remain attached through a seal's molt. Field range is good when a seal is beached or a sea otter is floating with the antenna out of the water.
